Tag, you're it!

I've been tagged! And I'm the type of person who can't resist a good survey or anything like a survey. Definitely a habit I'm not wanting to kick any time soon ;o)

4 shows I like to watch: (it all depends on the season)
  1. Desperate Housewives
  2. NCIS
  3. Grey's Anatomy
  4. Deadliest Catch

4 things I'm passionate about:

  1. My family; I will do anything for my family. My mom and my husband are my best friends. I tell them everything whether they want to hear it or not.
  2. Sports/athletics; I played soo many sports in school. I love hanging out with the husband and kids on the weekend and watch a good football game or Nascar race.
  3. Learning/education; I want to pride myself in being a well-rounded individual. Even though my family wasn't religious, my grandma bought me a children's Bible when I was a kid. She felt it was important for me to know the stories at least.
  4. Music; I like any and all kinds of music. If I'm in a funk, one of the first things I do is turn on the radio or search for my iPod. I may not be artistic enough to play an instrument, but I definitely appreciate those who can!

4 phrases I say a lot:

  1. Seriously? (yes Jen, me too, lol.. I blame Grey's Anatomy)
  2. Alhamdaallah (means thank god in pretty much every Arabic based language)
  3. Holy crap!
  4. Not right now...

4 things I have learned from the past:

  1. History repeats itself.
  2. Never go to bed angry; One piece of advice my father gave me about married life "Never go to bed angry, if you have something to say, get it off your chest before your head hits the pillow." Sometimes my head is on the pillow when I decide to talk to Warren, but I hate trying to go to bed with a weight on my shoulders. I'm not the type of person who bottles things up anyway. If I have something to say, I usually say it right then and there.
  3. I'm a master procrastinator.
  4. I give up too easy.

4 places I would like to go:

  1. Germany
  2. Ireland
  3. Alaska
  4. Florida

4 things I did yesterday:

  1. Woke up
  2. Watched Julie and Julia
  3. Got even sicker
  4. Napped most of the afternoon away

4 things I'm looking forward to:

  1. My birthday dinner at The Melting Pot with my amazing husband.
  2. The trip to Cali in May.
  3. Our family trip to Disneyland in June
  4. Our 5th wedding anniversary in July.

4 things I love about winter:

  1. Sweaters/Jackets
  2. Hot drinks
  3. It's a good excuse to lay on the couch with a good book and a blanket.
  4. I can escape to Cali to get out of the awful white stuff on the ground

4 things on my wish list:

  1. A new iPod Nano
  2. A "sleigh" bed frame.
  3. A house
  4. New pot and pan set

4 people I tag:

  1. Melissa
  2. Sandra
  3. Julie
  4. Marnie

Just, plans..

I am soo excited for this Spring/Summer! I have so many things I want to do and see, I'm tired of being a slug.
I really want to get an early start on this whole "spring cleaning" business, because I have a feeling, it will take almost the whole season. I want everything done by the end of April. I think I might put a few shelves up, some hooks by the front door for my purse, keys, or whatever. I think I need to just turn this apartment into as much of a home as I can. I need to go through things, find homes for them, or just get rid of it. Anyway, that's just March/April, I am the most excited for May and June.
I'm going back home for like the first two weeks in May while the husband is on deployment. We are going to celebrate Erin's first birthday while we are out there and I couldn't be happier about that. It'll also be a way for people to come and see my mom's new house. Oh yeah, they got the keys for their house and have the final inspection today, yay!!! I'm so happy for them, they have come so far since the fire.
June is going to be just as awesome as May, if not better. When husband gets back from deployment he's going to take some leave. The four of us are going to drive out to Cali and stay with my mom for a few days. Then, we've asked mom to accompany us for her birthday on a family trip to Disneyland! This is going to be our best summer ever. If only I could find something way cool to do for our anniversary.. Lake Tahoe is pretty much out of the question. Maybe a night's stay in a really nice hotel or something, kid free...
Anyway! That's all for now.. until next time..

Cricket... Cricket...

Wow! I am totally not used to this silence! I really enjoy it, especially after a rough day, today was about a 6 on a scale of 10. For noise factor that is.. lol. The thing is, it won't always be loud and crazy around here. It's kind of crazy when I sit here and think I will only have a few years of this! It hit me today, I'm in NO RUSH for Erin to start crawling. After all, she's the last baby for us.

Sorry for being kind of MIA as of late. The last 2 days I definitely felt as if I was circling the drain. Thank god I get the sickest on the husband's days off. Poor him unfortunately, but at least he is around to help with crowd control! I think I started feeling sick around Thursday. We went out to dinner with some of his coworkers on Friday. We went to this incredibly, fantastic Italian place downtown called Rino's Italian Ristorante. So freakin' good! The brother of one of husband's coworkers co-owns the restaurant. It was so crazy hearing a Persian guy pronounce some of the dishes. The food was so yummy though. I definitely went out of my beyond picky comfort zone and ate some of the bruschetta (sp?) appetizer. I had a really nice, light salad after that. Then, I ate THE BEST veal parmesan ever! To top it off, I ordered a killer chocolate mousse, I definitely finished every crumb of it. ;o) Dinner was great, both the food and the people. My mother-in-law watched Shannon, so we took Erin. It was so nice of her to watch Nanner for us!

Saturday and today I just felt like complete crap. My head was totally congested Saturday and today it finally moved to my lungs. I really hope I don't end up with bronchitis or an ear infection!

On a lighter note, I am so proud of myself, I finished my book! I can now add Heart-Shaped Box to my "books I've read" collection now. It was so good, I could not put it down last night! So, I've started Master your Metabolism. Now, the crappy thing... I already found a new book I want to read! Barnesandnoble.com is a dangerous, dangerous site for me. Well, that and Amazon too!

I think it's still close enough to New Years for me to work on and amend some resolutions! I don't know, maybe I will read this at the same time. We'll see! All I know is I'm totally book crazy right now.

Well, I think it's about time for me to end the night. I think I'm going to go share the bed with the husband since the girls are both in theirs!

Blah

I feel like crap.
My head is totally in the clouds.
And to top it all off, it appears the husband is still giving me the silent treatment.
He really should have more than one uniform at all times, it's not my fault he doesn't. It was my fault his uniform didn't get put into the dryer last night and sat in the washing machine all night. I said I would do it for him, and didn't. I just don't think it's something big enough that I deserve silence.
If I didn't feel like poo I would have cleaned the whole damn house today to make up for it. I think he was just stressed because of some evaluation he was going through at work today. But, he's a man and will never straight up admit to it.
Bah! We never stay po'd with one another this long, maybe that's why I'm writing about it.
Anyway, back to looking at online schooling options...

Current read and a book I really want to read!

I want this book so FREAKIN' BAD! My MIL borrowed it from the local library, and I flipped through it all last night.

I love The Biggest Loser! I was so happy to see the marathon this weekend on Bravo or FoxReality or whatever it was on. Warren has been watching it with me during the week as well. I'm surprised, usually I will turn it on a show like that and he will say "is there anything else on!?" He totally gets into it! I went ahead and bought The Biggest Loser game for the Nintendo DSi too. Anyway, I found the book on Amazon for only $13!
One of the things I totally agreed with in the book is EAT BREAKFAST! Maybe it's because I just love food, but I've always been a firm believer in breakfast. Anyway, I will hopefully buy the book (the husband already gave me the OK), and maybe it will be my read for February?? We shall see!
Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill is my current read. I picked it up at the airport on the flight from Sacramento to Salt Lake. I'm about halfway through. The time I have to dedicated to reading is mostly at night. Since this book is a "ghost thriller" and I'm a HUGE pansy, I haven't had much time to read it. I'm about halfway through and when I do open it I can't put it down. If you are offended easily by some sexual references or an occasional "F" bomb, you may not like it. It had me busting up laughing when it was totally silent on the plane though.
Anyway! That's all for tonight I suppose, until next time... Have a great week!
**Update: Haha! Not even 5 minutes after I posted this, my husband looks over his shoulder and asks me "Hey babe, did you buy your book yet??" So, Master Your Metabolism will be here by no later than the 25th! Soooo excited! I also decided to buy a beginner's cookbook for $7 too! I thought that was too funny and decided to share! For real now, goodnight! =o)

A girl can dream, right?

I am IN LOVE with this house. It's in West Jordan, and man.. it's amazing. The link for it is here http://www.utahrealestate.com/917656. Go check it out! I love the colors they have used in this bedroom. I would SO keep the maroon. I didn't post any pictures, but the kitchen is nice too. The thing I love most about this house, I wouldn't have to do any renovations. I really hope there is something similar to this available when we look to by. I'm hoping we will have a home of our own by this time next year. I would love nothing more than to be able to spend the holidays in my own home. We'll see what happens after taxes, a deployment, and maybe I will be able to find some little job, once Erin lets me.
I really cannot wait for this. And just to keep my "eyes on the prize," I'm thinking of adding this home as my desktop background =o) Hope you all have a great week!

What I do, since I can't go to the gym

Okay! This post is actually kind of a response to a comment, but something I wanted to talk about anyway since it has something to do with one of my resolutions. Thank you Sandra!

Through experimentation, this week I discovered I am more productive throughout the day if I do some form of physical exercise after my morning "routine." At the beginning of the week, I got up, did my stuff on the computer, fed the kids, then hopped on the Wiifit. I did the daily body test and bits of the training portion. The daily body test weighs you and measures your BMI, then it shows your "center of balance." From there you have the option to continue to do 2 balance tests they select for your. Once those are complete it presents you with your "Fit Age." I have been lucky enough to get 20 2 or 3 times this week! I think my highest was in the 60s one day lol.

After you get your Fit Age, it gives you the option to end or go on to the training portion. There are a few options to choose from: Yoga, Strength exercises, Aerobics (my favorite part), and Balance. I LOVE the aerobics exercises. The two I do the most are boxing and hula hoop. I'm up to the advanced boxing and hula hoop, they give a little more of a challenge. I was sore for a days after just the first 2 days of this. I really like to start of with the boxing, it really seems to get my heartrate up. Then, I will switch over to the balance section and do Ski Jumping. You just get into a squat position, then stand up really fast and straight to go the farthest. After about 10 minutes of that, my legs are noodles! I love it! After I'm done with the Wiifit, if I still felt like doing some form of activity, I would hop over to my Wiisports game. I do the bowling part and the Wii fitness part. I LOVE my wii lol.

The other way I tried to start of my day was by having a cup of coffee after my morning routine. Didn't work so well, I had lots of energy, but wasn't constructive. So, I'm thinking of just plugging that into my normal routine, then starting off with some form of Wii activity.

I think the Wiifit is great for people like me who can't get to the gym period, or as often as they would like to. It's great for just some extra form of exercise, aside from housework or chasing kids. I REALLY want to get the Fit Plus. I saw there is a way you can input what you eat and stuff during the day. I like having everything in one. Meaning, I like being able to have my activity and food log in one basically. I was using sparkpeople.com/babyfit.sparkpeople.com, but I hate having to go to separate things to input everything. Just last night I discovered Biggest Loser has video games for the Wii and DS. I might have to look into the one for my DSi!

I like doing things on the Wii, although at times I feel like it isn't intense enough for me. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I really miss those hardcore type workouts we had in basic training. So, maybe a few times a week I will lay a blanket down (we have hardwood floors), and put myself through some boot camp exercises. After the holidays, I seem to be sitting right around 150. To get out of the overweight BMI bracket, I need to get below like 141 I believe. When I left basic I was 137ish and a size 5/7. I was toned! So, I would like to get down to at least 135, but no lower than 125. I don't want to look supermodel skinny, I just want to look/feel healthier and not have the excess, what I refer it as, fluff. ;o)

Idleness sucks..

First week of '10 is done and over. Minus a few meltdown's from Shannon and myself, I think it's been pretty good. I've been doing the wiifit everyday, except yesterday. But still, that's a pretty good track record for me!
I have no idea what to put on here. Don't have a whole lot to talk about, and nothing too exciting. One of these days I'll get around to posting about our vacation and put some pictures up. I felt I was going to be more motivated after my cup of coffee this morning. Yeah, not so much. It made me hella hyper and talkative, poor Warren. But, I seemed to waste all that (what could have been useful) energy on WoW.
Anyway, maybe I will write more later. Anyone have any suggestions on something to write about?? haha.. I'm open to suggestions..

Resolutions for '10

1. To actually keep my resolutions.
2. To read at least 1 new book every month.
3. To be healthier.
4. To become an all-around, better wife and mother.

1. I never do stick to any of my resolutions, not even for like a month!

2. I figure if I want to improve my writing and not seem as if I'm totally losing my brain, I need to read. Right now I am reading Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. I picked it up at the airport, it's a "ghost thriller."

3. There are quite a few things I need to do for this one actually. The first is going to be one of the toughest, waking up at a decent time to start with a routine. This also ties in with being a better mother. I don't need my toddler waking me up when it's time for us to be awake. After waking up, I found if I start off doing something on the Wii, I'm more energetic or ready for the day. Then, I just need to eat a little better. Less carbs, more fruits and way more vegetables. I kind of want to eat how I was when I was on my gallbladder diet.

4. The biggest part of this one is keeping the house more neat and way less cluttered. I want to do a deep clean of the main rooms, then head to the "storage" room (aka our 3rd bedroom). I need to do the deep clean so I can just do a simple daily cleaning everyday. Even if I end up procrastinating, nothing will just pile up and sit for forever. A simple daily walk-through would be so nice! Second, I want to spend more one on one time with Shannon. Our relationship can be quite tumultuous at times, and I think it may help. Lastly, I just need to make more time for me. I need to be able to find some times in either the days or in a week where I can just sit back and chill. So, I'm hoping if I am able to start by getting up at a decent time everyday, I may be able to find more "me" time for at least a little while everyday. Time to just sit back, enjoy my tea in the morning while I write in my journal or the blog, or even by reading a book.

Anyway! These are my resolutions. I may do progress checks like once a month or whatever. But I feel these resolutions will help me to be better overall.

First of '10!

Well, we are back from vacation! We arrived at the airport at 3:30 this afternoon. I never thought I would be so glad to be back in my little apartment here in Utah. I loved being able to see my mom and tons of other family members, but I'm so glad to be comfortable here again.
We got to Cali on the 24th, had dinner with my step dad's family. Christmas, we opened gifts at my mom's/grandma's, then spent time with my step dad's family again. After that, everything seems just like on big blur. I know what we did, but for the life of me, I can't think of the specifics right now! It's 1 am here and I'm beat!
Overall it was a great Christmas. And the positives of the trip definitely outweighed the negatives. One of the first items I asked my mom about when we started talking about what was gone in the fire was a Dale Earnhardt Jr jacket of my dad's. She said it was definitely gone. Well, it's not, she totally "fibbed!" My Santa present was the jacket, cleaned with just minor stains. Oh my god did I start crying when I pulled it out of the bag. All I can remember thinking was "holy crap, it actually survived!!!" Since it is newly clean, it doesn't have that distinctive smell of my father any more, but it's in one piece.
Anyway! Woohoo for my first blog in 2010!!! I'm hoping my second will contain a few more details about our trip and a third will have resolutions. Yes, resolutions, I know, I don't usually do them. I don't usually do them because historically, I have a HORRIBLE fail rate when it comes to resolutions. But this year, I'm determined to turn things around! Happy New Year everyone, hope it's off to a great start!!
